In its first edition Romantika Uz Beas TM witnessed two courageous riders, Sonu Yadav and Sumer Bansal, at the starting line. Sonu Yadav, despite lacking optimal support from the crew, showcased exceptional strength, reaching the halfway point with determination. Unfortunately, he couldn’t complete the race. Sumer Bansal, facing challenges with an inefficient crew
member, had to quit within the first 200 kilometers. The inaugural edition, though challenging, laid the foundation for the race’s reputation as a formidable test of endurance.
The Second Attempt: A Persistent Pursuit
In the second edition, Sonu Yadav returned for another shot at conquering Romantika Uz Beas TM . Despite his valiant efforts, the race continued to elude him. In the third edition, five Racers registered for the Race Kabir Rachure, Sonu Yadav, Manish Saini, Sumer Bansal & Sahil Sachdeva out of which Sonu Yadav did not Start, Kabir finished the Race in 37 hours and the rest got DNF.

RUB RACE REPORT 2024
On March 11th, 2024, the Romantika Uz Beas Ultra Race unfolded against the backdrop of India’s challenging terrain. Three years back when we announced this Race for the month of June, we went for the recce of the route for the first time in 2021, we understood that it can be held only in the month of last week of Feb or in March. As only this is the time when there are no landslides and snow gets depleted by this time from the Road. However, adjustments were made this time to the route, excluding the perilous stretch after Manali due to snowfall and avalanche risks. Due al nino effect, weather was different this time. when we went for the final recce of the route, there was snow fall and after manali there were chances of avalanche. so we decided to remove the Manali to Atal Tunnel part of the race This grueling race spans from Hoshiarpur to various checkpoints including Dehra, Kangra, Yol, Palampur, Baijnath, Jogindernagar, Mandi, IIT Mandi, Kandi Pass, Bajaura, Kullu, Manali, and back, presenting a formidable challenge to participants.To and Fro makes it more difficult.
As the race approached, weather forecasts hinted at thunderstorms in parts of Himachal Pradesh. However, thorough route inspections, consultations with locals on daily basis, and insights from the experienced director of officials, Abhishek Kashyap, a seasoned mariner, affirmed the decision to proceed with the race.. Race was on.
On March 10th, racers arrived for registration, inspections, photo shoots, and briefings, where the importance of adherence to protocol, especially under the guidance of the crew chief, was emphasized. Every team was given time of registration , inspections, photo shoot and briefing. Teams completed their day 1 tasks. Team Sumer, Team Manish and Team Kabir reached on time. Team Sonu Yadav did not report. Team Sahil got late so got 10 minutes penalty. An experienced Team Kabir saved Racer’s energy, Crew chief and the other crew member completed registration tasks themselves, their preparation for each and every step was fantastic. Briefing was done to the Teams. Racers were interviewed by the Race Director herself. It was great to have the Race Director of The Inspire India Ultra Races Rutvik Khare in the Race, it was a valuable opportunity to discuss with him about organising the Races and his experience about crewing.
As the organising team was very alert for the racer’s safety so strict cut offs were declared for the time stations. It was informed to the racers that cut offs will be enforced strongly because they are for the safety of riders. Teams were given contact of the Race Headquarters to report about the Racer during the Race or for any important communication, they could contact the Race Director in case of any emergency or clarity. Neelam Mam handled the Race Headquarters very well who was there day and night to respond quickly.
The Romantika Uz Beas Ultra Race 2024 tested the limits of human endurance against the backdrop of Himachal’s rugged terrain and unpredictable weather. Kabir Rachure’s triumph stands as a testament to the resilience and determination of ultra-endurance athletes.
The Romantika Uz Beas Ultra Race 2024 commenced on March 11th, 2024, starting at 2:00 PM from the Jio BP Petrol Pump Bahowal. Racers embarked on a grueling journey through India’s challenging terrain, facing steep elevations, rough roads on some parts and unpredictable weather. The staggered start, with racers departing at five-minute intervals, added an element of strategy to the race. Team Manish demonstrated remarkable strength from the outset, maintaining a strong pace throughout. Meanwhile, Team Sumer pedaled consistently. Unfortunately, the day brought unforeseen health issues for Sahil Sachdeva, leading to his withdrawal from the race upon reaching Kangra. Despite battling through the difficult terrain, Manish fell behind schedule, facing a significant time deficit by Time Station 3.
Team Kabir with the support of three follow vehicles and Kabir’s determination, they overcame the adversities, steadily progressing towards the finish line.The Romantika Uz Beas Ultra Race 2024 in 37 hours & proved to be a test of endurance, resilience, and strategic planning. While some faced setbacks, others demonstrated remarkable strength and determination. The race showcased the inherent challenges of ultra-endurance cycling, from unpredictable weather to unforgiving terrain. As racers crossed the finish line, they carried with them the lessons learned and memories forged during this grueling journey through India’s toughest ultra race.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
The Romantika Uz Beas ™ is open to solo racers, tandems, 2-person team, 3-person team, 4-person team and 8-person team. While the solo category is aimed at serious athletes, the team categories are open to cyclists of all abilities.
Solo racers ride the entire distance and crew provides the full support during the entire distance.
Team racers take turns to ride during the event. At a time one rider races and rest of the riders take rest in their support vehicles and take their turns to ride during the event.

Racer Categories
- Solo Racers (Male and Female) – 1 Racer racing the entire distance on a regular bicycle
- Tandem (Male, Female and Mixed) – 2 Racers sharing the entire distance on a tandem bicycle
- 2-Person Team (Male, Female and Mixed) – 2 Racers sharing the entire distance
- 3-Person Team (Male, Female and Mixed) –2 or 3 Racers sharing the entire distance
- 4-Person Team (Male, Female and Mixed) – 3 or 4 Racers sharing the entire distance
- 8-Person Team – between 5 and 8 Racers sharing the entire distance (there is no official gender distinction)
- Mixed – indicates there are at least one male or one female member
Bike Type Categories
- Upright single (Road bike, Hybrid or MTB)
- Tandem
- Any mixing type bikes are allowed depending on the Indian road conditions
Fee Structure
We’ve come up with one of it’s kind of fee structure in which all the participants would be benefited as the number of participants increase in the event. At the time of Registration, one would have to pay as per minimal participants structure mentioned as shown in the table. Excess amount of fee would be refunded to the rider after his/her participation in the event (As per the number of participants shown in table)
Note: Final number of participation would be announced one day prior to the start of the Race. Effective Refund would be transferred one week after the Race.

OVERVIEW OF RULES & REGULATIONS
Rules are framed in order to ensure:
- Safety of all persons involved
- Running a Clean and Healthy race with a level playing field for all
- Creating a Race of International standards
- Protecting Race integrity and reputation
Overview

- Minimum age of Participation: 18 years; Minimum age for crew: 18 years
- Every solo and team must have crew/support team. Minimum crew size is 2
- Any mixing type bikes are allowed depending on the Indian road conditions. Change of bicycles is allowed.
- Racers must ride the entire route and must follow the exact course.
- Front light, tail light and helmets are a must.
- Rider number must be displayed on the bike being used. Bib showing rider number must be visible to the marshals.
- Aero bars are allowed; Disc wheels are allowed.
- Front and rear lights must be on 24 hours.

- 1st Penalty 10 minutes
- 2nd Penalty 20 minutes (Total 30 minutes)
- 3rd Penalty 40 minutes (Total 70 minutes)
- 4th Penalty 80 minutes (Total150 minutes)
- 5th Penalty Disqualification
- Bicycles ridden at night must be fully visible.
- Lighting must meet the following requirements:
- a) Headlight (visible from 150 meter, 150 Lumens or more)
- b) Red tail light (must be solid) with minimum three LED bulbs (visible from 100 meter)
- c) Reflective tape on side of
- Front fork (15c.m.*1c.m.) Rear seat stay (15c.m.*1c.m.);
- Rear of pedals or heels of shoes or back of crank arms (3c.m.*1c.m.);
- And each side of wheel (3-4 pieces of 3c.m.*1c.m.)
- Riders must wear reflective vest from 1800hrs to 0600hrs during the race.
- No drafting of vehicles, non-motorized vehicles or other riders is allowed. Any number of team racers can be on the road at any time. Teams may draft, but only among their own team mates.
- Clock starts at the start of the race, and does not stop for any reason. Your finish time is when you cross the official finish line as per your race book. Penalties will be added to your final time, and that will be your official finish time, under all circumstances
- All participants must obey all applicable traffic laws.
- Support vehicles should always display rider information and crew vehicle stickers
- Hazard lights should be on at all the times while on the road and parked on the roadside
- Support vehicle should follow the rider and not drive in front of or parallel to the rider.
- Support vehicle must be completely off the road when providing leapfrog support or exchanging riders, can drive along the rider no more than 4 times in one hour to handover food and drinks. Caution needs to be exercised so as to not block oncoming traffic nor cross the median.
- Support must be leapfrog during the day and direct follow at night. Racers cannot advance at night without a follow-vehicle.
- In day hours,direct follow under the bridges/ road construction sites.
- Participants and racers must not impede traffic. If two or more motorists and/or a single motorist are backed up behind a support vehicle for more than 2 minutes, the support vehicle must pull over as soon as possible to allow other motor vehicles to pass.
- Crew leader should ensure that adequate sleep time is assigned to all the crew members to avoid exhaustion and accidents.
- Vehicle’s hazard lights should be on all times and its headlights on during the night/early mornings.
- Slow-moving vehicle triangle(it will be brought by the racer); Caution Bicycles Ahead sign; and race numbers on front, rear and both sides (signage stickers will be provided by the organizer at the time of registration)
- Crew member must notify location every 3 hours by calling at Race Headquarters. They should inform the concerned race official if taking break longer than 30 minutes so as to ensure safety of riders and the crew.
- Support crews must call race headquarters 5 Kms prior to unmanned control point (Not a Time Station), call again after reaching and report the racer’s time of arrival.
- Racers need not stop at the time station in day hours (All Time stations will be manned).Its mandatory for the Crew to stop at TS and check-in. Its the responsibility of the crew that Rider card is signed at each time station.
- If any crew member notices that the rider is falling asleep and refuses to sleep, please notify a marshal or the race director to ensure safety of the rider.
Rule book will be provided at the time of registration.Please note that at the time of Registrations, either the crew chief/ Racer himself/herself need to report. Crew Chief can make vehicles, bikes and other equipment ready. It’s mandatory that the Racer should be present at the time of photoshoot and briefing.
