Welcome to Bharat Alacrity – the pioneers of ultra cycling in Northern India, a passion project fueled by the relentless dedication of Abhishek Kashyap and Saran Preeti. With a cycling journey spanning over a decade, this dynamic couple brought the thrill of long-distance cycling to the vibrant landscapes of Punjab. Their commitment to the sport has not only weathered challenges but also transformed the region’s cycling scene.

In 2014, the couple initiated the ambitious goal of instilling an Endurance Riding culture in Punjab. Abhishek Kashyap, a former mariner and the Director of Officials at Bharat Alacrity, envisioned promoting cycle tourism to generate rural employment in the Kandi region at the foothills of the Shivalik. To turn this vision into reality, he established the Punjab Bikers Club, conducting workshops in schools to educate the community about Safe, Proper, and Healthy cycling practices.

The real turning point came when Abhishek introduced long-distance cycling to Punjab, launching Brevets and organizing Cyclothon events. The goal was clear – to create a cycling community that embraced endurance riding. The duo went on to pioneer Ultra Cycling Racing in Punjab, marking the beginning of Bharat Alacrity’s legacy in 2018.

Despite the hurdles posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to a temporary hiatus in events for more than a year, Bharat Alacrity persisted in its mission. The Northern Indian craze for ultra racing faced setbacks, but Abhishek and Saran remained unwavering in their
commitment. Their resilience and passion have been the driving force behind the success of Bharat Alacrity.

The team behind the scenes, with its wealth of experience in managing multiple cycling events, works tirelessly to create a platform for the amateur cycling community in India. Bharat Alacrity aims to provide enthusiasts with the opportunity to experience international-level ultra cycling events, setting new standards in the world of cycling.

Saran Preeti, the Race Director and former Physics lecturer, stands as a testament to the empowerment of women in cycling. She made history as the first female from Punjab to achieve Super Randonneur status, conquer the challenging Manali Leh stretch, and officiate in the world’s toughest bicycle race – the Race Across America – not once but twice in 2017 and 2018.

The journey of Bharat Alacrity kicked off with the Shivalik Signature on April 7, 2018. This groundbreaking event marked the inception of ultra racing in Punjab and garnered an overwhelming response from the community. Participants from across the country joined the inaugural run, with many distinguished personalities becoming part of this historic event.

At Bharat Alacrity, we continue to push boundaries, inspire passion, and create a cycling legacy in Northern India. Join us on this exhilarating journey as we redefine the limits of ultra racing and empower the cycling community to reach new heights.
